The special form of cushion (A) displays the face to allow observation for the best time for exposure. In addition the surface landmarks are visible to apply the "two-point technique". The base is thin to keep the head close to the film. The tension of the forehead strap or of the bandages is distributed all around so that it need not be excessive. There is always a return to the original position after a slight movement.
The half-cylinder (B) when placed at the bottom of the "U" flexes the head. Under the neck, with other cushions, it produces extension.
The forehead rectangle (C) is larger than the strap to afford excellent protection.
The triangles (D) help to correct any obliquity or inclination when needed.
