MacroTube 5mL Sterile Snap-Cap Centrifuge Tube - Polypropylene

MTC Bio's MacroTubes® 5mL Snap-Cap Centrifuge Tube takes all of the conveniences of standard 1.5ml tubes and scales them up for larger volumes. They have the same diameter as standard 15mL tubes for compatibility with centrifuge rotors, etc. In many applications, they have replaced 15mL tubes, reducing plastic waste, storage space and shipping costs. The potential contamination of pipettor shafts is greatly reduced because the 56mm total tube length (vs. 120mm for standard 15mL tubes) is short enough for standard 1mL or 5mL tips to reach the tube's conical bottom.

• Maximum Centrifugal Force: 25,000xg (when properly supported in appropriate rotor)
• Made of high clarity, low-binding, virgin polypropylene

• The attached cap is designed to provide a tight, leak-proof, secure seal from -86°C to +80°C, and can be effortlessly opened with one hand
• May be "boiled" for up to 10 minutes in heated applications
• At temperatures above 80°C, the use of the Caplock Clip™ is recommended to maintain seal integrity
• The center of the cap also has a thin "membrane" area, for easy puncture and access by a syringe/needle. Once punctured, the opening can also be useful for venting the internal pressure caused by incubation at moderately high temperatures.
• Dual graduations at every 0.2mL and 0.5mL
• Compatible with all Benchmark™ (USA) and standard German-designed equipment, including centrifuges, dry bath block heaters, tube racks and thermal shakers/vortexers
