If ordered without a sink, would there just be an empty open hole for a sink or would the surface be smooth and complete without a hole for a sink?

The sink is optional and must be purchased separately. If the sink is not purchased, the area where the sink is pictured in the photos will be a standard solid countertop for the entire length of the base cabinet.
