The Pharaoh Compensation Filter
|
THE PHARAOH: This compensating filter is designed for digital arteriography, of the aortic arch, the carotids and the cerebral arteries, with and without subtraction. See the video. The PHARAOH consists of four transparent elements : A) an anterior collar, marked with an A; B) a posterior collar, marked with a P; C) a bonnet and D) a mask. NECK COMPONENTS: With the patient sitting, the posterior part P presses against the shoulders. The anterior filter A, pushes up against the jaw, overlapping the posterior one evenly on each side. The two filters are fixed together with adhesive tape on each side. HEAD COMPONENTS: Stick the bonnet to the table with double coated adhesive, exactly where the examination will take place. Next, place the patients head into the bonnet pressing it against the top. If the sides are loose, they may be tightened with adhesive tape. EXAMINATIONS: Many examinations are done only with the posterior filters (P and the bonnet). For profile views, the mask is laid delicately over the face. IMMOBILIZATION: With an eye mask (supplied) or the regular mask, fasten the head with crossed tapes anchored to the sides of the table. VERIFICATION: Fluoroscopy and/or films prior to the injection are important for high quality imaging, since an immediate correction now will insure better results later.
