This versatile mobile cassette holder has universal applications within the X-ray department It is particularly useful for lateral decubitus views, invaluable in accident and emergency X-ray departments with stretcher and wheelchair patients, and ideal for work in conjunction with mobile units. It also doubles as a chest stand. The specially designed base is heavy weighted to allow for a low center of gravity, making the unit very stable. The two outer legs of the base are set 58cm apart and located behind the cassette so that the holder can be positioned over the edge of the X-ray table, casualty trolley or bed. The jaws of the cassette holder instantly adjust to grip the sides of any cassette and/or grid protector up to 3/4 inch thickness, from the short edge of a 13 x 118cm cassette to the short edge of a 35 x 43cm cassette. Very large cassettes such as the 43 x 106cm cassette shown can be accommodated with ease (maximum length of cassette accepted is in excess of 30 cm).As the jaws operate independently they allow some smaller cassettes to be moved sideways without changing the position of the base. This arrangement is particularly useful when using a 24 x 30cm cassette for lateral views with the cassette holder against the table and as light movement is required. The entire cassette holder can be swivelled by 450 to the left, or right, a facility that is particularly useful for some myelography examinations. As the total movement of the holder is 900 and because it is possible to grip either edge of a 35 x 43 cm cassette, it will be appreciated that a cassette can be rotated to any angle. Minimum distance from the floor to the lower cassette edge: 18cm. Maximum distance from the floor to the lower cassette edge: 136cm.
