The Kontrol Kube Abacus is a temporary anteroom designed to convert any operating, patient or procedure room into an emergency airborne isolation room. The Kontrol Kube Abacus can be quickly set up to provide containment wherever it is needed without costly disruptions to patients and schedules.

The spread of airborne infectious disease on college campuses, small rural townships and major metropolitan areas demonstrate that no region of the country is exempt from the need for emergency AII rooms. The Kontrol Kube Abacus is a mobile containment unit used to build a negative pressure environment for containing airborne pathogens during maintenance or for patient isolation. The Abacus can assist in achieving compliance with CDC, CSA, APIC and JCAHO guidelines and can be purchased with HRSA Funding under Critical Benchmark 2-2.

The Abacus can be used as an anteroom for patient isolation or increased surge capacity as well as to contain larger room sized renovations and repairs. As an anteroom the Abacus can also be used as a negative pressure containment barrier for elevator shaft repair.

The Abacus can be used as an "entry vestibule" as cited in APIC's State-of the-Art Report Volume Number 2 to facilitate clothing changes and tool storage between the clean and dirty areas.

The Abacus reaches heights of over 7 feet (while on the locking wheel base), accomodates a 6 foot ladder and provides both overhead and side access to work areas.

The Abacus can also be used to establish containment over broad vertical surfaces such as walls, sinks plumbing and vertical HVAC vents.
