Lead Aprons For Radiation Protection

We carry a full line of X ray lead aprons for radiation protection, plus lighter-weight lead composite and non-lead aprons. Regular lead aprons contain 100% lead, making these the heaviest X-ray protection aprons we offer. Lighter lead-composite and non-lead aprons are typically more costly, but they're 25% - 40% lighter than a similar 100% lead apron. Light radiation protection aprons reduce fatigue and upper back stress, making them especially suitable for interventional radiology or operating room procedures. Most of our radiation protection aprons come in a wide range of fabric colors, and many include optional features, such as pockets or embroidery. We have products that include a sewn-in thyroid collar, such as our Flex Back - Hook and Loop Closure - Regular Lead Apron with Sewn In Collar, plus several styles of thyroid collars that can be added to any of our X-ray protection aprons.

Your 3 Protection Options: Regular Lead, Lead Composite, and Non-Lead

Our 3 types of radiation protection aprons meet or exceed recommended lead equivalency and attenuation rates. They use different materials to deliver radiation protection, and that affects the weight of your apron.

Our Regular Lead Aprons contain 100% lead and provide 100% protection at 80 kVp. Depending on size and style, our regular lead aprons range between 10 and 25 pounds.

Our Lightweight Lead Aprons use a mixture of lead & other lighter weight metals. These lead composite aprons are about 25% lighter than regular lead aprons, typically weighing between 7 and 20 pounds, depending on size and style.

Lead Free Aprons use 100% nonlead attenuating metals to provide complete protection. Depending on size and style, they typically weigh between 5 and 17 pounds. These aprons are the lightest weight radiation protection aprons we offer. They're also 100% environmentally safe. They're a smart choice to reduce fatigue that could otherwise adversely impact patient outcomes.

Stay Protected

There is no safe amount of radiation. X-rays provide detailed images of muscles, bones, tissues, and other bodily masses, making it possible to detect fractures, tumors, and other conditions. Their benefits far outweigh their risks. But prolonged exposure to x-rays has been linked to an increased chance of developing various types of cancers. That's why we strongly encourage you to always be sure to protect yourself, every member of your medical team, and your patients. We're here to help you make the smart radiation protection choices.
